About RDES

Rylstone District Environment Society Inc. (RDES) is the local environment group for the rural townships, villages and localities around Rylstone and Kandos in the NSW central west.
We work on a variety of environmental projects and campaigns.
We welcome new members so please come and join us.

RDES aims to ...

Protect the natural environment

Protect the unique character of the area, including its cultural and built environment

Protect the biodiversity of the area, and avoid the extinction of threatened species

Promote ecologically sustainable use of the area – in agriculture, forestry, mining and other land uses

Support organic farming as a long-term sustainable activity

Support soil conservation, e.g. by revegetating creek banks and eroded areas

Promote conservation and protection of water resources – above and below ground – and promote total catchment management of the Colo, Hunter and Cudgegong catchments

Promote conservation of energy and use of renewable energy

Promote re-use and recycling of materials
